2003 : National Action PlanBack to Newsletters OnlineIID was contracted by Land and Water Australia and Land Repair Australia, to prepare an information memorandum for presentation to institutional investors for a fund to acquire degraded land. The fund is intended to fund the purchase of land, re-subdivide it into land that can be restored to well managed agricultural land, land that can be repaired by new techniques and land that should be transferred to the national estate. The study will negotiate taxation treatment, prioritise land for purchase and define management procedures and arrangements for an associated applied research fund. Mr Leake is the team leader of a 4 person team made up of a taxation specialist, an economist, a soils specialist and a venture capital specialist. The study is jointly funded under the National Action Plan for Natural Resource Management and private interests associated with Land Repair Australia. NyPa International. United Arab Emirates. IID joined with NyPa International to investigate the potential for joint evaluation and marketing of the NyPa forage and turf halophytes in urban and rural areas in the Emirates. In common with most of the Arabian Peninsular the Emirates groundwater resources are being depleted and becoming saline. The NyPa range of plants seems likely to be able to use these saline water resources for productive purposes. Each of the Emirates was visited in addition to the International Biosaline Centre in Dubai and commercial partners identified. IID in association with Lincoln Technologies as lead contractor was contracted to undertake a study of perishable cargo track and trace technologies being utilized in APEC countries.
