2004 : News of Studies and ProjectsBack to Newsletters OnlineIID as lead contractor, in association with Agriteam Canada, won a technical assistance contract to undertake the Agriculture Sector Strategy Study for the Government of Mongolia funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The project is due for completion in 2005. IID undertook a study into the Potential to Save Water in the Murray Darling Basin by utilising technology and services available from industry in South Australia for the Water Industry Alliance. The contract has been extended to review Pratt Water Initiative a four year applied research project to test new technology being applied in the Murrumbidgee Valley, the largest single irrigation region in the basin and is expected to be completed in 2005. IID in cooperation with Lincoln Technical Services; The Air Cargo Research Group of Universite Laval Quebec Canada; the Air Cargo Research Group of the university of Florida Gainsville USA; The Natural Hazards research centre, Macquarie University Sydney NSW implemented the Sea and Air Container Track and Trace Technologies analysis and case study project for the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (APEC) IID’s part involved the literature review assessing transport in developing regions and assistance with the report. IID in cooperation with Coffey MPW won a contract to implement the Mongolia- Australia Targeted Capacity Building Program on behalf of AusAID. The program is expected to continue for 4 years and includes the administration of grants for particular capacity building projects and the AusAID scholarship program.
