Shanghai is one of the great growth areas in the world as the port of the Yangste river basin, home of some 400 million people. Mr Song Jisheng a long time associate of the Institute's founding members has agreed to provide the Institute with its Chinese base.

Mr Song, originally head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Jinan Agricultural University in Shandong, China's oldest agricultural university, now operates his own consultancy business providing nutrition advice and micro-feed ingredients to intensive piggeries in Eastern China through his own network of agents. China has between 45 and 55 per cent of the world's pigs, depending on the relative position of the pig population cycle in the major producing countries.
