Participatory Planning and the World Bank

IID has been contracted to assist Professor Richard Bawden and Mr Bruce McKenzie to manage a contract to develop and deliver education in participatory planning for World Bank staff and third nationals working in each of the World Bank's 17 regional offices. This strategically important contract is designed to help World Bank staff, worldwide, to move towards more participatory planning and management systems. By this means, it is intended to improve the equity of outcome of development funded by the World Bank. Total development expenditure by the World Bank exceeds $US15,000 million per annum.

The contract has commenced in Ireland and Romania and is expected to be gradually extended to other World Bank offices over the next two years.
